Linux Configuration Notes

This page will contain tips and configuration notes for SuSE Linux 9.1.

I have decided to switch from Red Hat Linux to SuSE Linux. For Red Hat Configuration, please see the links above to my earlier configuration notes.

Configuration notes for SuSE Linux will be posted here during October, 2004.

FWIW, I did intall SuSE 9.1 as a client box on an HP laptop. The install went fine overall. The system, when brought up as a DHCP client on my LAN having a Samba server, detects my Samba server. I am able to SSH without incident. The only glitch is that that system did not detect my screen size or something so it prompts me every time after I boot asking if it should attempt to reconfigure something about my screen. If I say yes, it reverts to 800x600, which is most annoying. Also, the overall look of the screen is not as good as what I am used to with Red Hat Blue Curve (or whatever it's called). I'll refine and extend this report eventually.
