Dear Andrew,
I enjoy the service provided by Century Cable. But I found your newsletter message about the new Cable regulations to be disappointing.
We elect our government to represent us. Many of us actually like our government and think it does a good job in many areas, even if we have political differences with many of its policies. Your newsletter states that the law "was intended to put pressure on us". I have to disagree. The new law is a reasonable way to regulate what is a de facto public utility known as the Cable TV industry. In your letter, you mention that some broadcasters may demand to be carried. Which broadcasters? Your letter is very vague about just who these mysterious broadcasters are.
I do appreciate the enormous hassle that Century must be facing in changing to meet the new rules. But that's part of your job. Thanks for doing it!
On a different topic... Is Century looking into the new technologies which will bring computer networks into the home via cable? I work in the computer field and am very interested in helping this technology come into being. Perhaps you could comment on it in a future newsletter. I know a fair amount about this technology (in particular, the internet) and would be happy to talk with you about it at your convenience.
Sincerely,
Dennis G. Allard
