Whitepaper: Windows Server Delivers Lower TCO than Linux in China
Based on data from 136 organizations, this whitepaper helps IT decision-makers choose a server OS. The paper was done in China, but the results are relevant to all markets with similar labor rates. In the United States, 60% of server TCO is IT staffing. In China, IT staffing accounts for 27 percent of TCO. IT labor remains a major cost driver in China since less automation and more people are used to manage the same servers when compared to more expensive labor markets.
Whitepaper: Study Finds Ongoing Management Costs of Linux Offset Any Upfront Savings
Based on their survey of more than 200 enterprise IT administrators, META Group found that the ongoing costs of management and support for Linux offset any upfront acquisition cost advantages relative to Windows Server. Rather than procure the cheapest OS, IT organizations must choose the OS that helps them cut down the biggest variable cost of all—people.
Yankee Group Releases New North American Linux and Windows TCO Comparison
Based on the survey data of 550 users, this study found that "there is no universal clear-cut TCO basis" to justify a wholesale switch from Windows to Linux.
Whitepaper: Switching from Sybase Means Saving Money, Boosting Performance
This study by Ideas International, found that completed migrations to Microsoft SQL Server resulted in significant savings for hardware and ongoing maintenance, better performance, scalability, and business intelligence, and proved of the effectiveness of the Sybase to Microsoft SQL Server Migration Workshop Framework.
